Mismatch-y Mismatch-y

With prints littering the catwalks at London Fashion Week I cannot wait for payday because I want to invest in some serious mis-matching prints. Now I'm new to keeping a keen eye on fashion week, but I loved what was coming out of the S/S12 collections that I thought keeping tabs on London Fashion week would offer up some exciting ideas for my eyes to eat up.

Now firmly established, Mary Katrantzou stunned me with her A/W collection. This collection certainly fits the description LFW gave her designs: " A hyperrealistic aesthetic, bold graphics..."

Taking a quick look back to S/S 12 (a look back?!) I also loved the Preen collection and the pastel geometric prints. Pastel enough for Spring but punchy enough to not wave a final farewell to neon and bold colours.

Understandably, the world of yester-year didn't immediately think that typewriters and mazes would make for pretty dresses so florals are often the go to print. Which is why I want a suit. Oh yes, you're talking to the girl who doesn't own trousers. Possibly this one from River Island...

And if you happen to have a 28 inch waist and £28, I don't see why you wouldn't want this dress. Pair with a clashing printed blazer (or if you're feeling clash shy, a fuchsia/coral/aqua cover up) and colour pop heels and this trend is nailed, non? Oh for a 28inch waist...

Talk about a load of ramble.
Oh well.

Itchy Feet Poster Girl

Last night we hit up Itchy Feet at The Leadmill (http://www.itchyfeetonline.co.uk/) and had a boogie. I could not resist the chance to dress up! I feared that I would be one among many retro swingers but I really wasn't. I was pretty happy about this ...what?! I'm an attention seeker after all. The hair got quite a bit of attention which made the faff worthwhile. It isn't very neat but it is my first attempt at this style.

The official photographer caught me and called me "An Itchy Feet poster girl!" which was super flattering and hopefully the photo will be online soon and I will surely share...

New Car New Dress

Hello team,

I had a glorious rummage in the COW sale room the other day and found some top notch polyester finds. One of which is this pointillist inspired dress I picked for a nifty £4. It was so lovely and sunny today that I wanted to embrace it with some colour, completing the look with contrasting leopard print shoes and orange lipstick.

But as you can see, I didn't pose awkwardly in my cluttered bedroom today - oh no. Today I pose with my old knackered Toyota and my new Fiat! Hurrah! Never bought anything on a whim but I went from "Hmm - I wonder if I can get my insurance cheaper this year?" to 2 hours later owning this car. Brilliant.

Deth Rose Vintage

If only I were very slim, blonde and THIS WOMAN...OK I will start again.

If only I lived in the US, had lots of money and could fit in these beautiful dresses or at least knew somebody who I could watch wear them. This is Deth Rose Vintage. Her blog can be found here and her Etsy shop can be found here

With "Classic Style not Costume" being her accompanying statement, I think you can see that this shop is a rare find. Gorgeous 50s and 60s dresses, skirts and suits in stunning shapes, textiles and design. Not to mention the girl herself! What a babe.

There are a few downsides, a) she is based in Chicago and b) they ain't cheap - but this grade of vintage is so high that I suppose it is worth it. Perhaps more for a special occasion. Lastly c) the sizes are generally small (6-12) so I'm missing out already. Sob! But this isn't stopping me sharing her stunning clothes with you!

Box Bags

I would very much like to own one of these. I haven't found any decent modern box bags, so if anybody knows of any please point me in the right direction. These are all on Etsy but they are all US based sellers so the postage is a little too steep for me to consider buying one just now. Sigh.
