At The Brighton Vintage Fair we had the usual awesome bunch of traders and cake and music but my eyes were drawn to a jewelry stall a dozen times during the day. Any fans of Tatty Devine will adore Hannah Davis's hand-made designs in glittering perspex and kooky, graphic designs.

 Ladies...I bring you Wolf & Moon.

Hannah takes inspiration from art deco stained glass, Egyptian and Morrocan artwork and mixes metallic perspex and wood to create a variety of accessories from big statement necklaces to kitsch art deco earrings. They're all reasonably priced and Hannah cleverly think outside the box with her designs, they're a refreshing take on the medium.

Hannah set up her very pretty stall at our fair in The Brighton Dome and having looked online, most of her stock is not yet up, which is a shame. The website is beautiful though, hopefully it will keep getting restocked - especially in time for Christmas! The cute fox necklace below is a must. Hannah will be trading at The Shoreditch Vintage Fair on November 17th at Shoreditch Town Hall. 

Oh and here are my gold perspex and wooden art deco style fan earrings. I adore them!

The Dressing Up Box

I've always liked to think I know what suits me and I've always been one to try and stand out and not be a slave to trends. But this eccentric wardrobe has recently diminished as has my confidence with style, fashion and clothes in general. Not so helpful when you write a fashion blog.

It was actually this post by Fleur De Guerre that got me thinking about my own style and who I was or who I was portraying. In fact, who was I even dressing for?

Often I feel I should be dressing like a 50s girl all of the time or I should be going authentically 60s but the beauty of vintage to me is the vast array of styles on offer to us in the 21st century. And then, one of the traders at The Vintage Fair turned round to me at the weekend and said "You're always changing aren't you?" and it all fell into place. If I want to go all out 40s, I can. If I want to look like I've just walked out of Topshop, I can. My wardrobe is a dressing up box and it's about time I just got over this preoccupation with should and just wear exactly what I bloody well want to.

 So I've attached some of my favourite outfits from this blog to prove all of the above. Hell. I think I look good in any era. 

Polka Dots and Feathers

Good evening daaaahhhhlings. The Vintage Fair requires a bit of dressing up and since our fair in Bristol was the biggest one to date, I figured I'd make an effort. It's always a little bit odd getting this dressed up at 8am, but I'm slowly getting used to it! The red lipstick is a Revlon liquid lipstick that really does stay put for hours and hours, so it's fab for fair days. We were in Cardiff the next day and I can't say I looked quite as made up, and it was so busy I never got round to taking any snaps anyway.

It's Always Summer Somewhere

This is my band's new single, Summer Somewhere. It would mean the world to me if you would give it a spin. Have a look at some of the gorgeous snaps taken by Georgina Martin who deserved her 2 hour nap that very early morning in the Peak District. We were there by 7am and the weather was incredible. The clouds had descended into the valley over the village of Hathersage so the backgrounds to this video add a certain eerie atmosphere. I am so lucky living on the edge of Derbyshire.

The box is from an antiques fair in Sheffield, I paid £13 for it. And now it holds Summer. Big task that. I'm wearing a dress from Peacocks that was £7 in the sale and clock earrings from Topshop. Vintage belt. Sodden leopard print shoes.

 I thought I'd share all of my latest Instagram photos, as I said before, I've been blogging and working for The Vintage Fair of late, so I get to see lots of pretty things and handsome people! My Current Inspiration: Annie

Though I have a fairly whimsical, often eccentric wardrobe, I have found myself leaning more and more towards simpler styling. This really is due to the effortlessly cool Annie who plays bass in my band Screaming Maldini. She often gets compared to Zooey Deschanel with her thick brunette locks and blunt fringe, gorgeous eyes and cheeky smile! Though we are inspired by celebrity, magazines, blogs, music and history I think we are often most inspired by those around us.

The word "effortless" really sums up Annie's style. She turns up to most social engagements looking perfectly put together, yet completely natural and never over-styled. Annie knows what suits her but more importantly she knows what she likes and has unapologetically created a theme within her wardrobe. Especially with colours and tailoring. Annie is often in Zara and Topshop and that little leather jacket is from Mango.

Asking Annie what she's going to wear before a night out or before a gig is a common occurance! Though our styles are completely different, I always find it helpful to know what she's donning. Here are a few things that Annie has taught me:

• A statement necklace (or 5) is the ideal addition to your accessory collection as it finishes an outift in seconds. Preferably in gold. 
• Red lipstick can transform an ensemble from "I've just finished work" to "I'm on the rum!"
• Don't be scared of white shirts and buttoning them up to the collar.
• Simple works.
• Fashion doesn't have to be uncomfortable to look good.
• Stick to what you know suits you.

With this style in mind, I asked Annie to model for my first ASOS Marketplace collection. These two items looked so right on her, they sold in days and no wonder, she makes them look so wearable. That's what my collection is about, making vintage work for anybody. 

She's not only a savvy fashionista, Annie is a wonderful friend and a talented musician. She should really have her own fashion blog really! I wish I knew how to put an outfit together like this girl, I really do. In the mean time, I'll just make fabulous tunes on stage with her.

The Vintage Fair

Recently my blog has taken a bit of a back seat as I've been working and blogging for The Vintage Fair. A very good reason for taking a back seat! I just thought I'd give you a little update, show you some photos and stuff.  Have a nose at the blog why don't you! Go on...!

It usually starts with a Friday night drive to whichever city we are in the following day or an early Saturday morning drive. That's a lie actually, it really starts with "What do I wear? What era am I vibing today?" and "Where is my red lipstick?"

After saying hello to all of our traders, setting up the room, the front desk and the music, we open the doors at 12 to greet the eager vintage lovers. For the next 5 hours, we eat cake, drink tea, take photos and try not to buy everything. It's a good life. Here are a few snaps...

Hopefully I will see you at one of our fairs in the near future. We are in Sheffield this Saturday and York this Sunday.
